Man allegedly assaults police officer for refusing to pay for doughnut


A Man who allegedly assaulted a police officer after refusing to pay for doughnut has been arrested.

This man was remanded in an Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court in Osun State recently.

This happened on Wednesday. The man hails been identified as Taofeek Ahmed. This man is 27 years old.

He had allegedly assaulted a police officer who refused to pay for the doughnut he bought.

The prosecutor, who is Insp Sunday Osanyintuyi, has revealed that tgisbincudent happened around 4pm on the 19th of June 2023. This was at Sabo Market in Ile-Ife.

The man had bought doughnut worth N1,000 from a young lady known as Miss Mary Afolabi and refused to pay her.

He then slapped the lady when he had demanded for the payment of the doughnut

He also snaoltched her purse which contained a sum of N6,500.

On the 20th of June at about 4:20 p.m. at this same Market, this man also assaulted an officer, Sgt. Odusina Olawale whike trying to resist lawful arrest.

This man had no legal representation but went ahead to plead not guilty to these charges.

The charges were assault, breach of peace, snatching and resisting arrest.

The Magistrate, Abosede Sarumi has asked the defendant to formally apply for bail. He also directed that he be kept at Ile-Ife custodial facility until his bail application result
