The reigning Champions of England, Manchester City, will be banned from wearing the FIFA Club World Cup badge if they win the title against Fluminense on December 22, 2023.
The English FA rule has previously prevented Chelsea, who won the tournament in 2021, and Liverpool from wearing the badge.
However, the Liverpool side were permitted to wear the gold badge once after winning the award in 2019.
Teams like Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are allowed to wear the FIFA Club World Cup badge, but the Premier League is extremely strict with its rules.
The Premier League rule states that "strips of the description thus registered shall be worn throughout the season immediately following, and no changes to them shall be made except with the prior written permission of the Board."
"Any request for such permission must be made to the Board no less than 14 days before the league match in which the club concerned intends to wear the changed strip."
Although they are free to wear the gold badge in the FA Cup and the Champions League, Manchester City would not be wearing the FIFA Club World Cup badge against Everton and Sheffield United on December 27, 2023, and December 30, 2023.
However, the Pep Guardiola side could be given permission to wear the badge when they play against Newcastle on January 13, 2024.
Guardiola described the match against Fluminense as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the club. This is the first time the football club will be playing in such a tournament.
Guardiola doesn't want to write off the Brazilian Champions, and he is ready to start his best team to land the FIFA Club World Cup title for the first time in Manchester City history.
Manchester City players have been banned from playing in the final of the FIFA Club World Cup due to FIFA rule
Three Manchester City players have been banned from playing in the FIFA Club World Cup due to FIFA rules.
Injured Kevin De Bruyne, Erling Haaland, and Jeremy Doku wouldn't be available for the match due to the FIFA rule that states a player who didn't participate in the semi-finals of the tournament is not allowed to play in the finals.
There are no guarantees that the injured players will be available for Manchester City's next match in the Premier League.
There are still a lot of matches to be played this season.
Guardiola does not want to risk starting those players when they resume Premier League action.
The club is currently in 4th place, and they are looking forward to securing the 4th Premier League title in a row.
