Police are investigating death threats sent to a Manchester United fan channel after backlash to an interview with forward Rasmus Hojlund.

Hojlund had an interview with “United Stand” in February 2024, fulfilling a promise he made following his move to Manchester United in the summer of 2023.

Several of Rasmus Hojlund's teammates reportedly questioned his decision to be interviewed by Mark Goldbridge - the owner of the fan channel, who also doubles as a presenter.

Hojlund's teammates weren't in tandem with the forward's decision due to the channel being critical of several Manchester United players.

The “United Stand” channel have since received death threats warning owner Goldbridge that he is a “dead man walking”.

They are also threatening to harm him if he turns up at Old Trafford to watch Manchester United.

The messages on social media mentioned other members of staff and the exact location of the studio.

Police were called into action on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, and informed of the death threats sent to Mark Goldbridge.

A statement from Greater Manchester Police read: “Officers have spoken with the victim and relevant information has been passed over to the police. Enquiries are ongoing at this stage.”

Meanwhile, Mark Goldbridge has also had his say on the reports sprawling, saying: “I totally understand that football is a passionate and divisive sport and that people are free to decide and have an opinion on what content they consume.

“However, the pile-on some of our staff were subject to over the weekend was incredibly sad to witness.

“To be threatening people's lives yet again evidences the vile pack mentality that exists on social media.”

Moreover, security has also been heightened to forestall any attack. Rasmus Hojlund is a boyhood footballer of the “United Stand” and it has been said that the Dane understood why his teammates weren't happy over the interview.

Reports have claimed that Hojlund did not mean to upset his teammates, with the issue apparently leading to dressing room banter rather than rancor between the players.

The United Stand is Manchester United's most-watched fan channel globally, with a large audience of 1.83 million on YouTube and 2.3 million on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The channel was launched in 2023 by Mark Goldbridge, whose real name is Brent Di Cesare.

Rasmus Hojlund joined Manchester United from Atalanta on August 5, 2023, for a fee of €73.9 million.

He has made 30 appearances for the English side this campaign, scoring 13 goals and providing 2 assists in all competitions.

Hojlund didn't settle early into life in England, however, since he found his groove, the attacker has appeared unstoppable.

Meanwhile, Rasmus Hojlund is expected to return to action on Sunday, March 17, 2024, when Manchester United face Liverpool at Old Trafford in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.

Hojlund has been absent from the Red Devils last 4 matches due to a muscle injury which he sustained days after their 2-1 win against Luton Town at Kenilworth Road.
