Manchester United Supporters Trust (MUST) have confirmed a fruitful and promising first meeting with Manchester United new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
As per the Mirror, MUST - a conglomerate of all Manchester United fan groups - revealed they had an indepth meeting with Sir Jim, grilling the 71-year-old on his plans for the club.
Top on the agenda in the meeting was how the INEOS chief will transform Manchester United into a Premier League and European giant that it was.
MUST statement after the meeting with Sir Jim Ratcliffe reads;
''We had an engaging and fruitful first meeting with Sir Jim Ratcliffe. It was a promising encounter and he has laid down his plans to restore Manchester United back to its glory days."
MUST added Sir Jim Ratcliffe has made it clear that he is not interested in making money from Manchester United but wants to channel his resources strategically to restore the club's sporting life."
"Sir Jim Ratcliffe has genuine intentions for Manchester United and has told us he is not interested in milking the club but to improve and elevate our sporting life and bring about a more competent team."
Recall MUST issued a statement after Manchester United announced the ratification of Sir Jim Ratcliffe's £1.25bn bid for acquisition of 25% shares at the club.
The group called the Glazers and the INEOS chief to clarify their intentions and clear goals for the club following the decision to ratify the partial ownership deal.
The disposition of Manchester United fans towards the partial ownership deal with Sir Jim Ratcliffe has been largely pessimistic. United fans seems skeptical of the prospects of the new deal with the UK billionaire. The skeptical bent stems from the purported notion that the Glazers still wanted to retain ownership of Manchester United by strategically freezing out Ratcliffe's rival Sheikh Jassim, who presented a more popular bid for a total takeover of the club.
It is believed the meeting between MUST and Sir Jim Ratcliffe must have allayed fears of shoddy background deal. The 71-year-old is now tipped to transform the club's fortunes for good after years of rot under the watch of the Glazers.
Meanwhile, the Premier League are yet to approve Sir Jim Ratcliffe's partial ownership of Manchester United but it has been revealed the final approval will be granted early or mid-February 2024.
