Manchester United's food hygiene rating dropped drastically following an inspection by Standards Agency - a UK food security and protection agency.

Out of a food hygiene rating of five, Manchester United were given one in an image-denting assessment.

A club of Manchester United's pedigree struggling with poor hygienic measures in the culinary department is weird to be frank.

With over a thousand employees of great professional standing across various departments, impeccable hygienic standards on food processing should not be a problem.

But the reverse was the case. According to the BBC, a visit and inspection by Standards Agency to Carrington revealed the rot in Man United's culinary department.

The report confirms United were given the poorest rating of one out five on food hygiene.

Nsmnews understands such rating is extremely bizarre for a club in the class of Manchester United, and has brought to the fore the neglect of the club's basic facilities and critical services.

Manchester United have been on the spotlights for their gradual slip from a Premier League giant to a minnow with lesser sporting merit. Sources close to the club revealed the club's American owners - the Glazers - have treated the club's sporting aspect with neglect and reckless abandon.

The downward spiral of events is evident in series of dismal on-field performances, piling injury layoffs, dressing room chaos, and frequent change of hands at the dugout since Alex Ferguson left.

The bizarre rating on food hygiene is believed to be a microcosm of the larger challenges of neglect by the club's owners.

The BBC adds the club have been told that "major improvements" are needed to ensure food sold at Old Trafford is safe to eat.

As usual, the club have reacted to the rating with an effort to control damage and save the image of the club.

They admitted "a small amount of undercooked meat was inadvertently served during a non matchday event".

"This was an isolated issue and the immediate failures were quickly addressed."

They also added they are conducting an independent food audit to identify any further areas of improvement.

"MUFC has taken this incident very seriously and wants to reassure our valued fans and customers that we maintain the highest culinary standards," the club added.

"The club is proud of the high standards and the five-star food hygiene record which had been awarded to us for the past eight years.

"Everyone at the club is determined to regain our five-star food hygiene status as quickly as possible."

However, it is obvious all is not going well with the Manchester club under the watch of the Glazers.
