Many trapped as 2 storey building collapses in Abuja
Many people have been trapped in a collapsed 2 storey building in Abuja. This building collapsed recently trapping many occupants inside.
The building which collapsed is located in Garki area in Abuja. Many of the occupants of this buying are feared to be dead as the building collapsed trapping them inside it.This incident occurred earlier this moving, Thursday August 24, 2023. This was as a result of the heavy rainfall early this morning.
Rescue operations have commenced so as to save those who were trapped. About 37 people have been rescued so far from the ruins of the building.
It was Mr Ikharo Attah who is a former aide to the immediate past Minister of the FCT, who shared this via a Facebook post recently. He revealed that 37 people have been rescued alive from the building.
He revaled that those who have been rescued have been taken to the hospital for medical treatment.
He wrote, “Two-storey Plaza collapsed in Abuja at Lagos Street, Garki village area of Garki District. So far 37 persons have so far been evacuated to Hospital, Two ‘Fatally injured’. Others reportedly still trapped"
He also added “Rescue team and others are on ground. Rescue operations are on but slowly due to ongoing rain. They are making frantic efforts at getting an excavator to remove people from the rubble.”
