Marcus Rashford is set to be slammed with a fine of £650,000 by Manchester United following his appearance at a nightclub in Belfast, according to reports.

Rashford was seen at a nightclub in Belfast during the previous week enjoying a day off, and he was expected to return to team training the next day.

However, Marcus Rashford became ill following his appearance in Belfast, and that resulted in him being absent from Manchester United's clash against Newport County on Sunday, January 28, 2024.

The Red Devils smashed the English League Two club 4-2 in the absence of Rashford, courtesy of goals from Bruno Fernandes, Kobbie Mainoo, Antony, and Rasmus Hojlund.

Newport County got their goals through Bryn Morris and Will Evans in the 36th and 47th minute of the encounter, putting Manchester United fans in a minor scare for a period in the affair.

Anyway, Rashford's £650,000 final is an equivalent of his 2-week wages and reports claim he was left out of the Red Devils 3rd Round clash due to an “internal matter”, linked to his indiscipline.

Marcus Rashford has had a poor season this campaign, scoring just 4 goals and providing 6 assists in 26 appearances across all competitions.

This is obviously a massive drop compared to his 41-goal contribution to the Red Devils last season in 51 appearances in all competitions.

Meanwhile, Manchester United have waded in on the Rashford issue, with the club expressing that the player is back to training and available for selection.

Based on a statement from the club, shared by Fabrizio Romano, the English giants stated that the attacker “has taken responsibility for his actions.”

The Red Devils added: “This has been dealt with as an internal disciplinary matter, which is now closed”.

Following the statement, it is expected that Marcus Rashford will return to action on February 1, 2024, for Erik Ten Hag's side league game against Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Molineux Stadium.

Before missing out on the weekend game against Newport County due to alleged illness, the Englishman had scored in 2 out of Manchester United's last 3 matches in all competitions.

In his last 4 matches for the Red Devils, he has contributed 4 goals to the club, scoring 2 goals and providing 2 assists in all competitions.

Rashford is an academy graduate of Manchester United and he earned his breakthrough to the senior team on February 25, 2016, making his debut in a UEFA Europa League encounter against FC Midtjylland.

Marcus Rashford scored a brace in that clash and it appeared his path to greatness was defined from then onwards.

The 26-year-old has since gone on to make 385 appearances in total for the club, scoring 127 goals and providing 74 assists in all competitions.
