Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Maria Chike Benjamin has narrated her experience after leaving the BBNaija show.
She explained this in a recent episode with Chude.
Maria was a housemate of the ‘Shine Ya Eye’ season 6 show. She left the show in 2021.
She revealed that after the show, things were quite difficult mentally. She had auditioned for the show in 2020 and there were challenges.
She didn't know the next step to take in life and her few friends had been encouraging her to audition for Big Brother Naija.
She eventually did because she knew she had many things she wanted to achieve and BBNaija was a suitable platform for it.
She mentioned she didn't even tell her family about her decision because they won't understand her intentions because of how people perceive the ladies who sign up for BBNaija.
She said they imagined BBN to be like reality shows in the UK which involves lots of swearing and other things.
She says when she finally went on the show and came out, she was at a difficult stage mentally.
She was trying to handle the popularity and fame that came with being on the show.
She says she had to start learning things from the start to cope.
She also mentioned the grief she was dealing with, her father passing away, her parents divorce etc
