Mario Balotelli has reportedly terminated his contract with Swiss club FC Sion and he is now a free agent, according to reports.

Balotelli joined Sion on August 31, 2022, from Turkish club Adana Demirspor for a fee of €2.6 million.

He made 19 appearances for the Swiss Challenge League club, scoring 6 goals and providing no assists across all competitions.

Mario Balotelli couldn't help FC Sion keep their place in the top-tier division, as they finished bottom in the Super League last season, after amassing 31 points from 36 games.

Ultimately, Stade Lausanne-Ouchy defeated them by 6-2 on aggregate to confirm their relegation to the Swiss Super League.

Balotelli managed only 6 league goals last season for FC Sion, and he is now in search of another club to strut his stuff for the 2023/24 season.

The Italian will be joining the 12th club in his career when he finally seals a move to another team, having played for gigantic clubs like; Liverpool, Inter Milan, AC Milan, Manchester City, and more.

He has been linked with a sensational return to Adana Demirspor, as they are keen on acquiring his services for the 2023/24 season.

Mario Balotelli was outstanding in attack for the Turkish club during the 2020/21 season, scoring 19 goals and providing 7 assists in 35 appearances across all competitions.

Balotelli's 18-goal tally during the 2021/22 season has been his best return in a single season so far in his career.

He had only recorded such output once previously in his career, scoring 18 goals in 28 league appearances for Nice during the 2017/18 season.

The 33-year-old, who was tipped to become one of the best players ever in football, has had a turbulent football career, battling personal issues, discipline, and mannerisms, amongst others.

Mario Balotelli commenced his career at local club Lumezzane, not far away from his residential apartment in Concesio.

The attacker was promoted to the first team of the club at the age of 15, and he made his debut in a Serie C1 league encounter against Pandova on April 2, 2006.

Due to his qualities, he was signed by Inter Milan on August 31, 2006, from Lumezzane for €360,000.

Balotelli had an impressive spell with the Nerazzurri, scoring 28 goals and providing 15 assists in 86 appearances for the club between 2007 and 2010.

With the arrival of Sheikh Mansour, Manchester City splashed €29.5 million to sign the 33-year-old on August 12, 2010.

He had a decent spell at the Etihad, scoring a famous goal against Manchester United, where he celebrated by showing his singlet which read: “Why always me”.

Mario Balotelli also had an infamous spat with then City manager, Roberto Mancini, after he was substituted for wasting a glorious chance.

He scored 30 goals and provided 7 assists in 80 appearances for Manchester City, before leaving the club to join AC Milan on January 31, 2013, for €20 million.

Balotelli scored 33 goals and provided 9 assists for the Rossoneri in 77 appearances, in what can be termed as a remarkable goal return for the Italian.

He left AC Milan on August 25, 2014, to join Liverpool, and he had a disastrous spell at Anfield.

The 2010 Golden Boy Award winner scored 4 goals and provided no assists in 28 appearances for the Reds.

Mario Balotelli continued his football journey around Europe on August 31, 2016, signing for OGC Nice.

After his spell at Nice, he joined Olympique Marseille, before returning to Italy to play for Brescia and Monza.

Balotelli has scored 199 goals and provided 43 assists in 472 appearances so far in his career.
