Futballnews understand Mason Mount was at loggerheads with Chelsea over a new contract offer falling off the demand of the England international.

He has one year remaining in his Chelsea contract and has refused to renew his deal with the club due to an undervalued wage offer.

Chelsea pays Mason Mount £80,000 weekly while the likes of Reece James, another homegrown player, is pocketing £250,000 weekly at the club.

Mount reportedly wants a pay parity with other Chelsea first team players. In August, he was approached by Chelsea for a new five year contract but rejected it as the wage offer fell below his demand.

Mount was also approached again for a one-year contract extension after which the club were ready to increase his wage and made him one of the highest-paid players at the club but he also rejected it.

The 24-year-old is ready to exit the club this summer due to the contract renewal deadlock.

From the camp of the English youngster, it was confirmed he has agreed personal terms with Chelsea domestic rivals Manchester United.

However, all is not smooth for a move to Old Trafford to happen. According to the Sun, Chelsea are ready to tie down Mason Mount to the 12 months remaining in his contract if Manchester United do not not meet their fee demand for the player.

Chelsea want £70m-plus for Mason Mount and will not sell the player if the transfer fee is not met. Manchester United are keen on sealing a move with the prolific attacking midfielder, having agreed personal terms for the player but must fork out the £70m-plus cash to secure his services.

With the agreement on ground, Manchester United will now pay Mason Mount more than Bruno Fernandes when he completes the move, as per the Sun.

Mount wanted nothing less from £250,000 before signing a new deal with Chelsea. It is believed his wage demand from Manchester United before agreeing terms with the club is around the same £250,000 weekly.

This is way above what most Manchester United first team players are earning at the club.

Mason Mount will earn £10,000 more than Bruno Fernandes, who earns £240,000 weekly at the club. He will also earn £50,000 more than Antony, who pockets £200,000 weekly.

Other Manchester United first-team players that will go down on the wage radder below Mason Mount are Harry Maguire (£189,000 weekly), Marcus Rashford (£200,000), Christian Eriksen and Luke Shaw (150,000 weekly), Lisandro Martinez and Lindelof (£120,000) Aaron Wan-Bissaka (£90,000), Tyrell Malacia (£75,000).

David de Gea is the highest earning Manchester United player with a weekly wage of £375,000. He is followed by Jadon Sancho (£350,000), Raphael Varane (£340,000), and Casemiro (£300,000).

Mason Mount and Anthony Martial will be the two Manchester United players with a weekly wage cap of £250,000 should he complete the move to Old Trafford.
