Aston Villa and Manchester United clashed in an intense and thrilling Premier League match that ended in a 2-1 victory for Manchester United.

Aston Villa received Manchester United at home, in a key duel that ended in a 2-1 home defeat on Sunday, February 11.

The home side fought hard but it was Manchester United who managed to break the deadlock with an opener from Hojlund and a late goal from Scott McTominay.

Despite Aston Villa's valiant efforts to find an equalizer, they were unable to capitalize on their chances, and Manchester United held on to secure the victory.

The match in details

The game started with both teams showing a great deal of energy and determination.

Villa saw a lot of the ball in the early stages with Ramsey and Cash going on dangerous runs but didn't end up well.

A big chance for United occurred in the 11th minute as Hojlund pressed and won the ball back just inside the box and found Fernandes, who gave it back to the striker. Aston Villa's Carlos, however, blocked his shot and the home club dealt with the resulting corner.

Moments later, Garnacho surged past Morena with his brisk footwork and narrowly missed a long-range shot.

In the 16th minute, Manchester United took the lead against Emery's team by scoring the opening goal.

After out-jumping Kamara, Maguire nodded the corner back across the goal and it dropped perfectly for Hojlund, who swept it home from close range.

Villa continued very strongly but lacked any sort of conviction in attack. However, a great chance came in the 26th minute as Moreno found Ramsey through the middle but the midfielder shot just wide.

In the 26th minute, United goalkeeper Onana almost cost his team a goal as he charged off his line but failed to clear the ball properly. But he managed to get back onto his line just in time to make a great save and deny McGinn's powerful shot from the edge of the box.

Shortly after, Casemiro received the game's first yellow card for a bad foul on Cash.

Aston Villa took pride in their performance, as they pushed Manchester United until the very end and created plenty of opportunities to score before the first half ended.

However, they were disappointed not to have found the back of the net as Ten Hag's team had every chance of equalizer denied.

Manchester United began the second half with a lively run from Rashford, who unfortunately overhit his final touch after bypassing several players.

Shortly, a potential equalizer appeared for Villa as Cash delivered a cross to Watkins at the near post, only to be intercepted by Onana.

Another chance came in for Villa in the 60th minute as Ramsey attempted to score but was stopped by Dalot.

Villa finally had a breakthrough in the 67th minute when Douglas Luiz capitalized on a loose ball and quickly sent it into the net with his right foot.

The goal was a real mess for United's goalkeeper as Onana was unsure whether to come out for a corner.

After making a great save from Lenglet, the danger was not fully cleared. Bailey then cut inside from the right wing and took a shot with his left foot.

Luiz deflected it past Onana from a few yards out to return parity, bringing Villa back on level terms with a brilliant piece of improvisation.

Following the equalizer, both teams dominated the field with fierce tackles and strategic plays but neither could break the deadlock.

United eventually gave Villa a shocker as Scott McTominay capitalized on an opportunity to give United a winning goal.

The cross by Diogo Dalot from Manchester United successfully found McTominay in the box and he wasted no time to give United a deserving 2-1 victory.

Villa dominated possession and created more chances, only to be denied by the outstanding defense of the visiting side.

The game ended with a 2-1 victory for Manchester United, a result that showed their superiority throughout the match.

Aston Villa put up a good fight in the late stages, but ultimately couldn't match their opponents' energy and determination.

Overall, it was a strong performance from United, with Hojlund's brilliant shot and McTominay's header securing the win.
