Meet the Vice president of Global affairs at OpenAI, Anna Makanju. Anna Makanju is a Yoruba Woman from Nigeria. Her full name is Anna Adeola Makanju. She is 47 years old and serves as the Vice president of Global affairs at OpenAI. She is reportedly the only Nigerian working at Open AI.
Anna Makanju was born to a Nigerian father who has been identified as Dr. Folorunsho Agboade Makanju and a Ukrainian mother. Anna is known to be from Russia because she migrated from Russia to the United States of America, however, her roots are Nigerian. She was born in St. Petersburg, Russia before her family moved to Germany when she was 11 years old before moving to the United States. Open AI is a famous AI company to be reckoned with, especially with ChatGPT which is a famous AI that was launched in November 2022. Anna Makanju works closely with the OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and they travel around the world to meet with world leaders and discuss with them.
Anna joined OpenAI in September 2021. Prior to joining OpenAI, she was a special policy adviser to Joe Biden while he was the Vice President to Barack Obama. She has also served as the Senior Policy Advisor to the Permanent Representative at the United States Mission to the United Nations. At 16 years of age, Anna began her journey at the Western Washington University and graduated with a BA in linguistics and French. She also studied law at Stanford University before working as a clerk at the International Criminal Court, and the International Criminal Tribunal.
