Mercy Eke says being the only BBNaija female winner was a burden
Popular Nigerian TV reality star Mercy Eke has revealed that being the only BBNaija female winner before Phyna was a burden.
Mercy was the winner of the Big Brother Naija Pepper dem season 4 show in 2019.
She is the first female to win the Big Brother Naija show. She was also the only female winner up until last year when Phyna also won the shoe
Recall last year, Phyna whose real name is Ijeoma Josephine Otabor became the second female to win the reality show. She won the Level up season 7 show in 2022 and after her win, Mercy Eke was no longer the only female winner.
She revealed this during an interview on the With Chude podcast. This was before she stepped into the Big Brother Najia All-Stars season 8 house on Sunday.
Recall Mercy is now back on the show to contest with 19 other former housemates for N120m.
Mercy revealed during the interview that she had been waiting for someone to take her spot as the only female winner of the show.
She says she was relieved when Phyna won in 2022 and says being the only female winner was a burden to her.

She wanted someone to take on that role and wanted to rest. She was feeling like she had so much burden and so much was expected from her.
She also shared how she had been craving so much privacy since she won the show in 2019. She says her popularity didn't allow her get that privacy she desired so she really wanted another female to win so the load can be taken off of her.
She wanted the pressure to go so she can live like every other girl. She desired another female winner so that blogs focus on this person instead of her.
