Liverpool have extended their lead on the Premier League table with a 4-2 victory over Newcastle United at Anfield.
The Reds easily dispatched Newcastle United at Anfield to open a three-point gap on the Premier League table.
Newcastle United went into the game on the back of a dismal festive run. Since a narrow 1-0 win over Manchester United on December 2, 2023, the Magpies have been winless in six of their seven matches before the Liverpool clash.

They suffered defeats against Everton and Tottenham in the Premier League, including back-to-back defeats against Nottingham Forest and Luton Town, who struggling to survive relegation.
The loss against Liverpool have rile up pressure on their manager Eddie Howe who is also struggling with a piling injury crisis with the team.
The Magpies did not give up at Anfield without a fight. They ended the first half goalless thanks to series of clinical saves by Martin Dubravka, including a terrific penalty save from Mo Salah.
It was a six-goal thriller after the final whistle with all the goals hurled in in the last 45.
Mohamed Salah opened the scoring for the home side in the 49th minute. Newcastle fought back to level terms through Isak in the 59th minute.
Liverpool returned to the lead with a quickfire double from Cody Gakpo and Curtis Jones but the Magpies still fought to resurrect hopes of a comeback with Sves Botman's goal.
With the scoreline at 3-2, Mohamed Salah sealed the win and smashed comeback hopes for the visitors as he scores a late penalty to make it 4-2 after the final whistle.
The victory has propelled the Jurgen Klopp-led team to 40 points after 20 matches while Newcastle drops to 9th on the table with 29 points from same number of games.
The Reds are now on pole position in the Premier League title race with a three-point gap on top of the table. They are 5 points clear of Arsenal in third place and 5 points clear of Manchester City in fourth place with a game in hand.
