Mohamed Salah penned his name into the history books, after scoring in Liverpool's 6-1 bashing of Sparta Prague in the second leg of the UEFA Europa League last 16.

The Reds were swashbuckling on the night, as they exuded quality and were utterly sublime right from the blast of the whistle.

Darwin Nunez netted in the 7th minute before Bobby Clark made it 2 just a minute later.

In the 10th minute, Salah got his name on the score sheet, as the Reds were rampant at Anfield.

Cody Gakpo netted 4 minutes later, with Sparta Prague's Veljko Birmancevic scoring the solitary goal for his side in the demolition.

Dominik Szoboszlai found the back of the net early in the second period before Gakpo got his brace 5 minutes before the hour mark.

Meanwhile, Mohamed Salah's goal in the 10th minute was the Egyptians 20th goal of the campaign across all competitions, which made him the first Liverpool player to reach that tally in seven seasons consecutively.

Salah also recorded two assists in the game, setting up Clark and Gakpo in the opening 15 minutes of proceedings.

Speaking following the game on the encounter and how it panned out, Jurgen Klopp said: “It was on us to decide how good a game it would be and obviously we enjoyed playing football, some fantastic goals as well early on.

“From that point on it becomes a difficult game, like how do you keep going?”

Klopp also lauded Salah on his new record, sharing the problem he has never had with the former Chelsea man.

He said: “I’ve worked seven years together with him, so one problem we never had was consistency.

“Mo is just delivering and delivering and delivering, his desire doesn’t stop. His quality is anyway there, but then his desire to score just doesn’t stop.”

Jurgen Klopp also added that he felt great to have the Egyptian back in their fold, after missing out on several games due to injury.

The German tactician said: “He improved in so many aspects since he started here. He will not stop.

“So, I’m less surprised than maybe some others, I thought it had already happened, to be honest, in this season but he was injured for a while and that’s why he couldn’t do it earlier otherwise it would have happened in January or February.

“So, great, very good and, as I said, great to have him back.”

Mohamed Salah's time at Anfield is gradually winding down, with the forward giving points to his impending departure.

Salah joined Liverpool from AS Roma on July 1, 2017, for a fee of €42 million and he has made 336 appearances for the club, scoring 206 goals and providing 92 assists in all competitions.

He is arguably Liverpool's greatest player ever, having led the club to virtually every success that can be won by the English side.

The 31-year-old has accentuated brilliance over the years and despite his age, he is an important player for the Reds.
