Accident in Niger State leaves 24 dead
A terrible accident which took place in Niger state has killed not less than 24 people. This accident took place on Bida-Mokwa Road, Niger State on Monday, March 28, 2023.
This was in the Lavun Local Government Area in Niger state.
The accident happened in the night around past 10pm. A truck which was carrying about 87 people was involved in the accident.
We learnt that this bus was on a journey, traveling from Zaria to Lagos
Mr Kumar Tsukwan who is the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) sector commander in Niger State confirmed this incident.
He mentioned that the officers rushed to the scene of the accident within a shot time after they had received the news.
He mentioned that the vehicle was carrying a lot of people and goods. More than half of these people were males, there were only 6 females and 7 children.
He said 45 people sustained injuries of varying degrees. Out of these injured victims, 39 were males, 3 were females and 3 were children.
He stated that 10 people didn't have any injuries from the accident.
Out of the 24 who died, 17 were males, 4 were females and 4 children.
He said the victims were rushed to a hospital immediately. They rushed them to the general hospital in Kutigi. The corpses were also taken to the mortuary in the hospital.
