Being a person that comes from a huge family who loves education, he wasn't happy with the choice he made when he started making music. His father owns a private university in Nigeria, Adeleke University and his late mom was a university professor.

"I come from a big family that's really big on education. I'm a first generation entertainer in my whole bloodline. He was really adamant about Mr finishing school.", He revealed.

Davido said his father didn't mind him doing music but he wanted him to finish school. So he made a deal with his father to attend school for two weeks in a month and the rest of the month would be for studio sessions. He also asked his father to finance his musical projects in exchange for school.

After the deal with his father, he started recording songs and attending classes. As time went on, his songs began to gain popularity but he started to be a distraction to the class. He was often sent out of class so he decided to start taking part-time classes.

Davido disclosed that his father was angry with him because he was now starting to gain recognition than before. He said he would get booked for shows and his father would cancel his performance due to his affluence in the society. This affected his career a little because people were scared to book him for shows.

Around that time, he had a song that was topping charts in Nigeria. The Nigerian president at the time even used his song as his ringtone. Davido said he later went back to school to complete his university education and he graduated. He said his father is now his biggest fan.
