Nigerian singer Olorunyomi Oloruntimilehin popularly known as Bad Boy Timz expressed that contrary to his colleague Burna Boy's opinion, his music has substance.
While speaking on the Fresh Off The Boat podcast, he expressed that Burna Boy's statement about Afrobeats doesn't apply to everyone and he was only referring to a handful of Nigerian artists.
He said, "Burna is the type of person to make his point regardless of whether you're hurt or not. The kind of music I make makes sense."
He described Afrobeats as a language that artists speak to pass the message across to the audience.
He said an artist not singing about the realities of life doesn't make him less of an artist or make them weak. Some may have been through a lot but they don't feel like sharing it through music.
"There are some songs I made when I was sad and you can feel the mood through the song.", he expressed.
He also acknowledged Fela as the pioneer of the Afrobeats movement saying that is the foundation of every Nigerian artist.
