The National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) have destroyed some fake products which are worth N4.2bn.
They carried out these activities recently in Anambra State. They destroyed the fake and substandard goods/products which amounted to N4.2 billion in Awka, Anambra State.
The Director-General of NAFDAC who is Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, revealed that this was to eradicate fake NAFDAC regulated products.
She revealed this while speaking during the exercise that took place at the Anambra State Waste Management Agency, ASWAMA Dumpsite at Umuzocha.
She said some fake products had been going round Nigeria and NAFDAC has a mandate of eradicating such.
She said these fake products which were made of substandard medicinal products were seized.
She said there were some expired, deflective and recalled products among the goods which were destroyed and they were given to them voluntarily.
She revealed that destroying school goods will reduce their reintroduction into the Nigerian market. It is also a proof of NAFDAC's resolve to protect the health of people.
