NASD Doubles in Size: Market Capitalisation Jumps 106% to ₦2.12 Trillion in 2025

The NASD Securities Exchange delivered an exceptional performance in 2025, recording a 106% surge in market capitalisation as new listings, price appreciation, and diversification efforts reshaped Nigeria’s alternative trading landscape.

By the close of 2025, the Exchange’s market capitalisation rose to ₦2.12 trillion, more than doubling from ₦1.03 trillion in 2024—a milestone that underscores growing investor confidence in non-traditional capital markets.

What Drove the Strong Growth?

NASD attributed the sharp increase in market value to a combination of:
• New company listings
• Appreciation in the prices of existing securities
• A successful diversification strategy

The Exchange emphasized that 2025 marked a transition from planning to execution, with its diversification agenda delivering tangible results across multiple asset classes.

Beyond OTC: Expanding Market Depth

While trading activity on NASD’s flagship Over-the-Counter (OTC) market remained moderate, performance was supported by:
• Admission of new companies
• Improved price stability among already-listed securities

More importantly, NASD expanded activity beyond equities, recording growing participation in:
• Fixed-income instruments
• Digital securities
• Alternative trading platforms

This broadened product offering helped deepen market participation and reduce over-reliance on a single segment.

Pension Index Records Explosive Growth

One of the standout achievements of 2025 was the performance of the NASD Pension Index (NPI):
• Index level: 3,002.68 points
• Growth: 215% year-on-year
• 2024 level: 954.33 points

The surge highlights increasing interest from long-term institutional investors, particularly pension funds, in NASD-listed securities.

️ Management’s Perspective

Commenting on the performance, Managing Director and CEO of NASD, Mr. Eguarekhide Longe, said the results reinforce NASD’s role as:

“Nigeria’s leading alternative securities exchange, providing flexible capital-raising and investment platforms outside the traditional exchange framework.”

His remarks underline NASD’s positioning as a viable complement to the Nigerian Exchange (NGX), especially for companies seeking less rigid listing requirements.

Why This Matters to Investors
• ️ More investment choices beyond the NGX
• Growing liquidity and valuation depth in alternative markets
• Increased participation from institutional investors
• Opportunities for early exposure to emerging and private companies

✅ Bottom Line

NASD’s 2025 performance signals a maturing alternative capital market in Nigeria. With market capitalisation more than doubling and strong growth across indices and asset classes, NASD is steadily cementing its place as a key player in Nigeria’s evolving financial ecosystem.
