The officials of the National Drug law Enforcement agency (NDLEA) have arrested a man for drug trafficking. This man has been identified as Agu Amobi and he is a Qatar- based businessman. They intercepted this man alongside another man who has been identified as Uchegbu Obi. These men had consignments of psychoactive drugs and they were caught. The incident occurred in the last week of December 2023, at the Murtala Muhammed international airport in Lagos.

This was revealed in a statement released by the NDLEA. It was the director of media and advocacy, Femi Babafemi who disclosed this in a statement that was released on the 31st of December 2023. They revealed that Agu Amobi was arrested on the 29th of December 2023 and this was at the departure point of the 2nd terminal at the airport. He had been on his way to board a flight headed for Doha, Qatar. That same day, the second man, Obi, was also caught with about 72,000 pills of 225mg tramadol pills. He had been trying to transport these drugs to Kano state and this was in the local airport.

Agu Amobi was caught with 1.30kg cannabis sativa which was hidden in a bag containing foodstuff. This man claimed to have been living in Doha, Qatar for over 10 years. He had bought these drugs from Enugu and planned to ship them to Doha to sell them. According to him, the money was to be used for his house rent in Doha and also pay his 3 children’s school fees. These men crossed over into the new year in the police custody.
