NDLEA rescues 5 pregnant teenagers who are victims of trafficking
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have rescued 5 pregnant teenagers who are victims of trafficking. They rescued these teenage girls in Imo State recently. This was while they were on patrol along Aba-Owerri Expressway. These ladies were rescued on the 13th of September, 2023.
These teenage girls were suspected to have been used in a baby factory by traffickers. They rescued them while they were being relocated from their hideout in Naze area in Owerri. They were being taken to Ikenegbu area still in Owerri.
It was the spokesperson for the NDLEA, Femi Babafemi, who revealed this in a statement that was issued on Sunday, September 17 2023. The teenage girls who were rescued also gave their statements. They revealed that they don't know the men who impregnated them
According to the statement released by the spokesperson “The victims are Chioma Emmanuel, 15; Uma Faith, 15; Divine Adimonye, 17; Opara Gift, 15; and Amarachi Mbata, 16. In their statements, they claimed they didn’t know the men who impregnated them,”
They also revealed that the Imo State Command of the NDLEA has been given the directives to hand them over to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons. They will be handing them over for further investigation
