Retired abroad-based Nigerian Soldier identified as Balogun talked about why Headies Award organizers chose to host the event in Atlanta instead of Nigeria. He is in support of what the organisers did unlike ex-BBNaija housemate, Tacha. Recall that Tacha slammed the Headies Award organizers and said they were encouraging the master-slavery mentality to thrive. She also criticized dearly for hosting a Nigerian award in the United States.

However, this retired Soldier said that 98% of the Nigerian artists will no longer remain relevant in the next three years. Hence, the reason Headies Award organizers ensured that they host it in the United States. That way, artists would have their passports ready for when they decide to restart a new life after exhausting their creativity. He made mention of artists like Tunde Ednut and how he quit his musical career to become a blogger.
