The Super Eagles of Nigeria has moved up the recently released FIFA ranking, thanks to two victories in their Africa Cup of Nations, qualifiers matches against The Benin Republic and Lesotho, where they scored four goals without conceding any.
The Gernot Rohr boys recorded a 1-0 away victory against the Benin Republic, despite talks surrounding their mode of transportation to their neighbors, they returned victorious, with Paul Onuachu on target. Two days after their match in Porto Novo, they returned to Lagos, Nigeria. For the first time in twenty years, they returned to Lagos, at the Teslim Balogun Stadium to face the Crocodiles of Lesotho. The match ended in a 3- 0 victory for the Super Eagles, where Victor Osimhen was on target.
These victories added to Nigeria moving from 36th position to 32nd position on the ranking. Meanwhile, they maintained their third spot in Africa, ranking behind Senegal and Tunisia. The Teranga Lions of Senegal dropped two positions to 22nd place on the FIFA ranking, while Tunisia maintained its 26th position.
While the Belgium national team still retained their top spot on the ranking, followed by France and Brazil. Thanks to Denmark’s wonderful performance in the World Cup qualifiers, where they won three of their matches, they move to 10th place, edging out Mexico.
