it will be another rollercoaster football outing as the Super Eagles of Nigeria prepare to challenge for 2023 AFCON crown in Ivory Coast.

The premium football competition in Africa will feature 24 teams divided into six groups of eight teams each.

Group winners and their runners-up earn automatic slots in round of 16 with the last slots reserved for best losers from the six groups.

The Terenga Lions of Senegal will be hoping to defend the crown they won in the last edition of the tournament while Nigeria will hope to win their 4th AFCON title, ending their 11 years wait for the title.

With the tournament set to kick off on January 13, 2024, some national teams have uveiled their squad for the tournament.

Super Eagles manager Jose Peseiro has unveiled Nigeria's 25-man squad for the tournament with regular names making the list in all four departments.

Napoli attacking sensation and CAF footballer of the year Victor Osimhen will pair with his Bayer Leverkusen counterpart and five-times Bundesliga player of the month winner Victor Boniface.

Other names making the cut in the attack are Ademola Lookman, Sadiq Umar, Ahmed Musa, Kelechi Iheanacho, and Moses Simon.

Premier League duo Alex Iwobi of Fulham and Wilfred Ndidi of Leicester City will lead the pack at the midfield while William Troost-Ekong and Ola Aina makes the cut at the defense.

Francis Uzoho has been called up in the goalkeeping department alongside Stanley Nwabili and Leke Ojo.

The three-time African champions will kick off proceedings against Equatorial Guinea on January 14, 2024 before taking on tournament hosts Ivory Coast, and Guinea-Bissau in the final group game.
