Coming from an away victory over Benin Republic, in Porto Novo, Nigeria set to face the South African side, Lesotho, in Teslim Balogun stadium, Lagos.
Nigeria currently sits comfortably at the top of Group L with eleven points, and Lesotho sitting at the bottom of the table, after five matches played. Nigeria, who had already qualified for the AFCON before their match against Benin Republic are set to extend their unbeaten run with a victory over Lesotho.
Many may believe this match is of no importance, as the Super Eagles had qualified for the tournament already, but it is certain that Gernot Rohr and his men are lookin to end on a perfect note. It will be worthy if some of the fringe players are given the opportunity to grace the field, at least.
Nigeria will be facing Lesotho for the fourth time, recording victories in their last three meetings. The recent meeting ended in a 4-2 victory for Nigeria, where Victor Osimhen scored a brace. Lesotho have not recorded a win away from home in the last seventeen matches, losing fourteen and drawing three, this, the Super Eagles must be wary of.
Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen is the top scorer for the Eagles in the qualifying round and also the qualifying round top scorer with four goals. He will be looking stir ahead of others with at least a goal in this match.
With Lagos state government banning movement around the Teslim Balogun stadium from 10am to 10pm today, the match will hold by 5pm.
