Keftin Amuga, the Governorship candidate of the Labour Party 2023 Gomber State election, said that Nigeria would have been in a better state if Gen Theophilus Danjuma (retd.) had accepted to be president. He disclosed this while congratulating Danjuma on his 85th birthday.

Amuga also wrote that recounted how much Danjuma inspired him back in 1989 when the Peoples Solidarity Party was formed. He said that the PSP political party managed to garner a massive nationwide acceptance at the inception of the second Republic despite being unregistered.

Danjuma's patriotism and profound love for Nigeria have inspired Amuga's success to date and have left an indelible mark on his perception of leadership. Amuga also said, "Since you piloted us in the formation of the then People’s Solidarity Party which should have won the general election at the inception of the Second Republic, had it been registered, I became inspired by your love for the Nigerian nation, irrespective of primordial cleavages."

He concluded by wishing Danjuma had accepted to step forward as the President of Nigeria. If he had, the country wouldn't have been in shambles as it is today. "Nonetheless, I express unwavering divine confidence in the leader’s ability to continue leading with vigor, not only in the entire Middle Belt region but also nationally," he added.
