Nigerian artist, Lola Mewu breaks Guinness World Record for the longest painting marathon
Young Nigerian artist, Lola Mewu has broken the Guinness World Record for the longest painting marathon. She has joined the likes of Hild Baci to become Guinness World Record Holders. Her attempt has however not yet been confirmed by GWR but hopefully soon enough, the results would be out.
Her full name is Oyinlola Mewu. She is a Nigerian artist and just a few days ago, she embarked on a journey to break the existing Guinness World Record for the longest painting marathon. The previous Record holder was Ronald Palmaerts who painted for 60 hours. This was in 2013. Not much information is known yet about Lola's private life.
Lola set out to paint for 72 hours however, she exceeded this time and painted for 82 hours. According to the requirements from the GWR, her paintings had to be auctioned off. The action was held live during her painting marathon both online and physically at Adeola Hopewell Street in Victoria Island, Lagos.
She commenced the marathon on the 28th of October and was supposed to end on the 31st however, she carried it over till the 1st of November, 2023. She painted activities which were from her childhood stage. These included playing in a classroom, staring out of the window and others.
