Nigerian Immigration officer kills protester in Ogun state.
An immigration officer has killed a protester in Ogun state. This man is of the Nigeria Immigration Service and he has been identified as Mr Lamba.
He reportedly killed a young man who was protesting. This victim has been identified as Jacob Bamgbola. The officer had shot him to death.
This incident occurred in Idigbo community, located in Yewa North Local Government Area.
The victim was carrying his niece on a motorbike when this incident happened. He was stopped by some immigration officers who were at a checkpoint on the expressway.
They demanded for money from him but he refused to give them. They had asked for N200 but the victim said he had done nothing wrong to pay them the money.
An argument then ensued between them and and the victim saw the officers weren parent attention attention him, he quickly rode off.
He then got to his sister's place and dropped off his niece. From there he went to share what happened with some youths in the community and they then began to protests because this had happened to another one of them before.
They went to the house of a chief in that community, Moses Faleye, and began to protest
Some immigration officers who heard about the protest then came into the vicinity and in a bid to disperse the protesters had begun to shoot.
This was when a bullet hit Jacob. The youths were able to identify the officer that shot the victim dead.
They quickly rushed the victim to the hospital but he died.
More residents have revealed that these officers are fond of asking for money from road users.
The chef whose house this happened in also confirmed this. He said he was trying to settle the youths; the immigration officers came and began shooting.
This case has been reported at the Igbokofi Police Station and the police have taken statements from witnesses.
They revealed that an investigation into the case has commenced.
