Nigerian Man And His Girlfriend Arrested With Drugs In South Africa
A man and his girlfriend have been arrested in South Africa for the possession of drugs.
The London Tactical Response Team (TRT) made the arrest in Eastern Cape, South Africa.
They were both detained after they were caught in possession of drugs.
Captain Yolisa Mgolodela who is the provincial spokesperson for the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks), released a statement on the 22nd of March and he mentioned that this 29 year old man, Promise Uchechukwu, and just girlfriend Anihle Sikade, who is 27 years old were arrested on the 18th of March, 2023.
After this, the South African Narcotics Enforcement Bureau (SANEB) based in East London took over the Investigation.
They mentioned that members of the Tactical Response Team discovered a large quantity of drugs, ammunition and firearm on the 18th of march while they were searching a house in Butterworth. Then they arrested one suspect.
The same day, they received information the drug dealer who supplied the suspects with drugs was about to make another delivery and was on his way to Butterworth.
Based on the description of the vehicle they got, they were able to recognise it and then carried out a search on the vehicle where they found drugs hidden under the passenger seat.
Then they arrested both the driver and his girlfriend for dealing in drugs.
The duo were in court on the 20th of March but their case has been postponed till March 28 for a bail application.
