Renowned lawyer and activist, Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Femi Falana said Nigerians should be allowed to protest against injustice and economic hardship.

While talking to Channels TV, Falana reacted to the arrest of the women who staged a protest in Niger state due to the current economic crisis. Last week, a group of women were arrested in Niger State for leading a protest due to the high cost of living. Falana said it is the basic right of Nigerians to protest against injustice.

Falana said Nigerians should be allowed to express themselves and air their grievances through protest or written content without any obstruction. He stated that according to the law, the security agencies are responsible for protecting the citizens during protests not oppressing them.
