The Chief of Army Staff of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Major General Taoreed Lagbaja, on Sunday, July 2nd, urged the Nigerian Army troops to complement their efforts with prayers for the success of the Army.

He said this at the Interdenominational Church Service that marked the Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL) 2023 at the Mogadishu Military Cantonment, Abuja.

This was disclosed to the public in a statement released by the Director of Army Public Relations, Onyema Nwachukwu.

Gen Lagbaja noted that the Interdenominational Church Service is used to commemorate the birth of the Nigerian Army.

The Army represents national unity integration, and the Church Service enables the Army officials to make supplications to Almighty God on behalf of the Nigerian Army and the country in general.

Gen. Lagbaja further stated that "As we mark our 160th year, I must confess that our journey has not been a bed of roses, as the Nigerian Army, in the course of holding our nation together, has fought a civil war, participated in peacekeeping cum peace enforcement missions and is currently involved in combating terrorism, insurgency and other criminalities across the country."

He said that the Nigerian Army has lost breadwinners in an attempt to ensure the maximum security of humanity and the country.

The number of widowers, widows, and orphans has risen in the Army due to the sacrifices of the men in uniform.

He attributed all lost lives to sacrifices made for God and the nation in general. This prompted him to urge all Army personnel to pray to God, so their efforts yield positive results.

Gen. Lagbaja further urged all personnel to keep putting in their best and remain dedicated, loyal, and patriotic in the discharge of their duties.

Here is the official statement released by Onyema Nwachukwu.
