NLC and FG sign an agreement on the proposed minimum wage
The Nigeria Labour Congress and Federal Government of Nigeria have reportedly reached and signed an agreement on the proposed minimum wage. Firstly, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has reportedly agreed to a minimum wage above N60,000 but a fixed wage hasn't been set.
However, the NLC committee and the FG are to meet every day for the next one week, to reach a consensus on fixing the new minimum wage.
Secondly, the NLC committee agreed to organize a meeting with its members to fill them in on the outcome of the signed agreement with the FG. They also made the FG promise not to victimize any member of the NLC committee, fighting to ensure that the living conditions of the average Nigerian improve.
In short, the strike is still on but the FG has shown that it's ready to negotiate with the union so the strike would be called off.
