NLC rejects N62,000 minimum wage, may embark on a new wave of strike on Tuesday
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) may resume strike tomorrow, Tuesday, June 11th over the FFG's refusal to approve a new minimum wage. The union had reduced their demand from N494,000 to N250,000 while the FG proposed N62,000. However, the spokesperson on the NLC, Chris Onyeka said on Monday, the 10th of June, that the union isn't ready to accept either N62,000 or N100,000 as the minimum wage. As it stands, it's either the government agrees to pay N250,000 or the union would embark on strike tomorrow.
Nigerians are now panicking over the effect of the strike which would affect all sectors down to electricity. The NLC strike was suspended for one week on the basis that the FG would come up with an agreed minimum wage. However, the union does not accept the proposed wage, and it's hinting at embarking on a new wave of strike starting tomorrow.
