Nollywood actor Jim Iyke speaks on why his bi-racial marriage crashed
On the Toke Moments podcast hosted by the social media personality Toke Makinwa, Nollywood actor Jim Iyke spoke about why his marriage ended. According to him, it was a bi-racial marriage and his ex-wife was a Caucasian. The marriage ended due to cultural differences and his inability to reciprocate her love at the time he was mourning the death of his mother.
He said he suffered from delayed grief after his mother died and didn't even know that was a thing. His siblings had moved on from grieving the death of their mother but he couldn't because he didn't properly mourn her death when she newly died. As an African man, he had to be there for his siblings and had to act tough for them.
That later backfired when he started to grieve and completely neglected the emotional needs of his wife. Jim Iyke said his wife tried to get him help by referring him to a therapist but he refused to accept. He didn't want to feel like he couldn't handle his problems.
Despite his wife being an amazing woman, she couldn't put up with him being emotionally distant in their relationship and that led to a series of problems in their marriage. The Nollywood actor said he is ready to give marriage another chance because he is more mature and self-aware.

Jim Iyke is a respected Nollywood actor who has been in the movie industry since 1998. He was born on the 25th of September, 1976. Jim graduated from the University of Jos with a bachelor's degree in Philosophy. He got married to a Lithuanian-American lawyer, Dana Kinduryte, sometime in 2015 after the birth of their son. Unfortunately, their union was cut short in 2022 after his wife left him due to the issues he mentioned above.
