A video of Nollywood thespian John Okafor popularly known as Mr Ibu celebrating his 62nd birthday with his family at the hospital has been making the rounds online since yesterday.
The actor aired the birthday celebration via a love session on his Instagram page yesterday. In the video, Mr Ibu was seated in front of his birthday cake wearing a hospital gown as his family and friends sang a Happy Birthday song for him.
His wife and children were seated beside him during the session but he looked tired and uninterested in what was happening. Also, his left foot looks swollen in the video though the cause of the ailment is uncertain.
After cutting the cake, he expressed how grateful he was to have his friends and family members celebrate him on his special day. He also said a little prayer for himself and for those present.
In 2019, Mr Ibu revealed that he was poisoned by his domestic workers who were sent by some of his jealous family members. They were envious of his successful acting career and decided to eliminate him but they didn't succeed. In 2022, the actor disclosed that he was poisoned again after the unsuccessful attempt. He survived but he has been hospitalized ever since and has been trying to get back on his feet.
The family of Mr Ibu has solicited for financial assistance from his fans and the general public via his Instagram page saying, "Dear good people of Nigeria, we're counting on your support at this point. We need it the most."
Fans and well wishers have sympathized with the actor, wishing him speedy recovery and sending him and his family love in this delicate period.
