The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) have commenced an investigation into the plane crash incident which occurred on Tuesday in Lagos.

There was an accident in Lagos State on Tuesday when an aircraft crashed in the Ikeja area of Lagos.

Mr Tunji Oketunbi who is a media officer at the NSIB released a statement recently. He shared that this aircraft which is a light single engine airplane, Jabiru J430 was operated by Air First Hospitality & Tours.

He revealed that the crash occurred on the 1st of August around the Oba Akran area of Ikeja in Lagos. The plane crashed shortly after it took off from the Lagos airport.

He revealed that the aircraft had been on a test flight within Lagos. There were two passengers onboard before the crash occurred. Thankfully there were no fatalities.

The aircraft caught fire as soon as it crashed into that neighborhood but it was contained from spreading by the rainfall at the time when it crashed.
The two passengers on board have been rescued and rushed to the hospital.

Earlier information stated that there were 4 on board but this has been cleared. There were only 2 people on board before the accident occured.

The NSIB has requested any useful information from members of the public regarding the incident in the form of pictures, or videos. Thos with information have been instructed to reach out to info@aib.gov.ng and NSIB_Nigeria on social media.
