Ogenyi Onazi has shared a post on Instagram grieving over the death of his father, months after his mom passed away.

Onazi, who was part of Nigeria's squad that won the Africa Cup of Nations in 2013, revealed via a post on Instagram in September 2023 that he had lost his mum.

Fast-forward months later, Ogenyi Onazi has also lost his father to the cold hands of death and he took to Instagram to reveal that he is in a downcasted state.

The 31-year-old wrote: “Still mourning the passing away of my dear mother now my Dad is gone.. what is remaining? Wicked world.. #lordineedyourstrength”

Onazi currently plays for Italian Serie D club Avezzano, having joined the team on November 12, 2023, on a free transfer.

Ogenyi Onazi has made only 6 appearances for the club, scoring no goal and providing no assist in all competitions.

The Nigerian has had what you might term a slump in his career, having begun his European football journey at SS Lazio.

Onazi was a household name in Italy for his brilliance in the middle of the park, scoring important goals and doing his primary job effectively.

He made 108 appearances for SS Lazio, scoring 7 goals and providing 8 assists in all competitions.

The 31-year-old subsequently joined Turkish club Trabzonspor on August 4, 2016, for a fee of €3.5 million.

Ogenyi Onazi also had a pretty Okay time in Turkey, scoring 7 goals and providing 4 assists in 79 appearances across all competitions.

The Nigerian has also played for several other clubs, including; Denizlispor, Al-Adalah, Casertana, and SönderjyskE.

Meanwhile, Onazi was seen in a video lauding Victor Osimhen for his growth and urging him to continue delivering his best.

Osimhen also reverted the gesture by showing respect to Ogenyi Onazi, who was also impressive during his prime.

The former Kitchee man has won just 3 trophies in his career, including; 1 Coppa Italia with Lazio, one Turkish Cup with Trabzonspor, and 1 African Cup of Nations title with Nigeria.

Onazi represented the Super Eagles at two FIFA World Cups, featuring predominantly at the 2014 edition in Brazil.

He was selected for the 2018 edition in Russia but didn't play in any of Nigeria's three games at the tournament.

Internationally, Ogenyi Onazi made 51 appearances for Nigeria, scoring 1 goal and providing 4 assists in all competitions.

The Jos-born footballer made his debut for the Super Eagles on October 13, 2012, and he was handed his first taste of action for Nigeria by the late Stephen Keshi.

Onazi's first game for Nigeria was in a 6-1 thumping of Liberia, coming on as a replacement for Nwankwo Obiora in the 82nd minute.

May God Give Him The Fortitude To Bear The Irreplaceable And Irreparable Loss!
