Olamide shares what led him to create YBNL, says he didn't want to waste all his money on balling
Popular Nigerian rapper Olamide has shared what led him to create his record label, YBNL. The rapper is the CEO and founder of the record label known as YBNL which is 'Yahoo Boy No Laptop' in full.
His full name is Olamide Adedeji and he is a rapper and record executive. He is one of the most successful artists in Africa. Recall he recently released his 10th studio which is titled 'unruly'.
He shared the inspiration of his record label recently during an interview with Apple Music Africa Now Radio with Nandi Madiba.
He created the record label YBNL in 2013 and this was after he had left ID Cabasa's Coded Tunes.
His record label has signed so many successful musicians like Fireboy, Adekunle Gold, Lil Kesh, Asake, Pheelz and others.
He revealed that the reason he created the record label was so that he could reinvest in his passion instead of spending his money on balling.
He shared that he knew it was time to reinvest in what has been making people love him. He says it was just a passion but he decided to take this further and turn it into a business properly.
He shared that he didn't want to wast his money on just balling and enjoyment so he decided to set up the record label and began signing some artists.
During the interview, he also expressed his desire to be back on stage and revealed that the last time he was on stage was most likely last year at Mr. Money’s concert which was held in London.
He then revealed that he will be having a concert in Nigeria this year, in December. He says as soon as he is done with that, he will go on tour next summer in the US and Europe.
He is excited to get back on the road and had been motivated by his fans who have been requesting for a tour.
