Olympique Marseille have completed the signing of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Tottenham Hotspur, according to reports.

Marseille are making further moves in the transfer market, reinforcing their squad ahead of the 2024/25 season.

Reports indicate that documents are set to be signed to make the deal official, with the midfielder assured of moving to the French side.

Olympique Marseille will reportedly pay about €14 million to secure the services of the former Bayern Munich man, who was not keen on penning a new deal at Tottenham Hotspur.

Hojbjerg accepted to join the Marseille-based club after discussing with ex-Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi, who is the current manager of Olympique Marseille.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg had a year left on his deal with Tottenham Hotspur, having penned a five-year deal with the side when he arrived in August 2020.

His hesitancy to renew his contract with Spurs has resulted in the North London side opting to cash in on him, in order not to lose him for free in the summer of 2025.

Hojbjerg will be the second Premier League player in less than 7 days to join Olympique Marseille, with former Mason Greenwood also moving to the club from Manchester United on July 18, 2024.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg will also be the 4th signing to be made by the French giants this summer, having signed; Ismaël Koné, Bamo Meïté, Lilian Brassier and Mason Greenwood.

Meanwhile, Hojbjerg was born on August 5, 1995, in København, Denmark, to father Christian Højbjerg, who died in 2014.

Olympique Marseille’s Poor 2023/24 Season

Moreover, Olympique Marseille ended the 2023/24 Ligue 1 season in eighth position under now-former boss Jean-Louis Gasset.

Gasset replaced Gennaro Gattuso as manager of the French giants in February 2024, with the hope of galvanizing the club to success.

Olympique Marseille’s underwhelming season was a complete contrast to their outing in the 2022/23 campaign, where they finished 3rd on the log and were hoping to build on their impressive display in the subsequent term.

It will be interesting to see how Roberto De Zerbi will marshall Olympique Marseille in the upcoming season, as they aim for better fortunes in the 2024/25 sea
