Ondo farmer sentenced to life imprisonment for defiling 6 year old girl
A farmer from Ondo state has been sentenced to life imprisonment for defiling a 6 year old girl. This young girl who is the victim is the daughter of this farmer's neighbour.
The man has been identified as Joseph Agbomu and he is 37 years old. It was an Akure High Court who sentenced this man to life imprisonment.
This incident occurred four years ago. He was charged with rape on the 18th of March 2019. He had pleaded not guilty to this charge.
Justice Yemi Fasanmi was the one who delivered judgement in this case. The justice said that the prosecution had proved the case against this man beyond doubt.
They also held the testimony of the victim as truthful.
He revealed how this farmer inflicted physical, emotional and psychological trauma on the little girl.
The evidence which the victim gave aligns with that of the complainant who is the father of the girl.
The victim revealed that this farmer sent her to buy indomie which she did and he cooked it and gave her some. She says that after she finished eating, he pushed her to the bed and assaulted her.
The farmer who is the convict gave his extra-judicial statement on December 12, 2019, where he confessed to this crime after he had originally pleaded not guilty.
He committed this act on the 12th of September, 2018. This was around 7:30pm in Ijebu, Owo Local Government Area in the state.
It was the father of the victims who had reported this case of rape.
Justice Fasanmi then declared that this man be sentenced to life imprisonment for the defilement of a child. He says this will serve as a deterrent to others like this.
