Napoli sensation and Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen is set to become one of the highest-paid Serie A players with his new contract extension plan with Napoli.
We reported earlier the Nigeria international has agreed in principle to extend his stay with the Azzuri by one more year.
He has a contract with the club until 2025. With the new agreement in place, the 24-year-old will stay in Naples until 2026.
Now, according to a latest update by Fabrizio Romano, Victor Osimhen is set to become one of the highest-paid Serie A players following his new contract extension agreement with Napoli.
The report reveals Napoli are ready to increase the salary of Osimhen with the new agreement. The salary increment will make the former Lille forward one of the highest-paid players in Serie A.
Fabrizio Romano said;
"Victor Osimhen new deal at Napoli will include huge salary rise;
Nigerian striker is gonna be one of the best paid players in the history of the club.
"New deal will be valid until June 2026, one more year as reported yesterday.
"Release clause already valid in 2024."
Osimhen is among the top earners at Napoli with an estimated weekly wage of €104,808. Despite his high profile on Napoli salary scale, Osimhen is down the rungs on the ladder of top earners in Serie A. The highest-paid player in Serie A, Dusan Vlahovic of Juventus, earns two times more than Victor Osimhen. Vlahovic's weekly wage is €249,231.
While it is still unclear whether Napoli will double Victor Osimhen's wages to bring him close to the high earners in the league, it is believed the club will increase the wage reasonably as per terms of their agreement.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are reportedly watching the contract proceedings between Osimhen and Napoli closely.
Should the Blues persist on signing the player. They will have to consider triggering the new release clause of €130m which will be open to activation from January 2024.
