Oyo State police kill robbery gang leader


Officers of the Oyo State Police have killed the leader of a robbery gang. This event occurred recently in Ibadan.

Some other suspects of this gang were also arrested by the police.

It was SP Adewale Osifeso who is the Police Public Relations Officer, who revealed this. He mentioned this on Friday at the command headquarters. This was while they were parading the suspects. They paraded many suspects of various offenses.

The news Agency of Nigeria gave a report saying that this gang had killed an officer.

They revealed that this officer, ASP Ogunleye Daniel who was the victim was killed during an invasion at his home on the 29th of April in Ibadan.

SP Adewale Osifeso revealed that the leader of this gang who was killed, died during an encounter with the police officers.

He said these gang people had robbed many residents on the 29th of April including the officer they killed.

Detectives were able to track these suspects using a phone they picked from the crime scene.

These were the detectives from the Anti-Robbery Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department.

They got hold of them and arrested 3 suspects and the gang leader was shot dead.

He also discovered from a confession made by the suspects that the woman who receives the stole items is known as Iya Alaye and she was also tracked and arrested.
