PDP has warned the Federal government of Nigeria that the hike in petrol price and electricity tariffs may take a negative toll on Nigerians as the party noted that Nigerians may resort to suicide, slavery mission abroad as well as selling of their children amid the hike of the two items.

Earlier, the Minister of information and culture, Lai Mohammed said to Nigerians that the prices of petrol and electricity tariffs still remain cheaper in Nigeria than other African countries.

However, PDP's National publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan described the Minister's remark as 'highly irrational'.

Ologbondiyan said this in a stated he published yesterday;

"We remind President Buhari that this hike will worsen the scary situation in the last five years, where compatriots are resorting to suicide, slavery mission abroad as well as selling of their children as options....

"We remind president Buhari that this hike will worsen the scary situation in the last five years, where compatriots are resorting to suicide, slavery mission abroad as well as selling of their children as options.

"PDP therefore rejects the highly irrational argument by the Minister of information, Mohammed, that fuel price is lower in some West African countries without presenting the contradictory economic settings in those countries and ours".
