Pensioners threaten to storm the street unclad if government refuses to improve their welfare

Members of the Nigerian Union of Pensioners are threatening to troop the streets unclad if the government refuses to improve their welfare due to the rising cost of living in the country. They are planning on embarking on a nationwide protest so the FG would hear their silent cries by increasing their monthly pension to at least N100,000.

The chairman of the union Godwin Abumusi lamented how Pensioners in Enugu State receive as little as N450 as their monthly pensions. This is highly ridiculous and cannot even cater to the needs of the pensioners. He further stated that the Nigerian government do not care about the poor masses but themselves. He added, "In Nigeria, government don't think about the poor people. They only think about themselves. Otherwise, how can a pensioners in Enugu receive as low as N450. How can this be? We wish to propose a sum of N100,000 as the national pension minimum to the committee in line with the proposed N200,000 wage minimum ruled by the NLC."
