Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed a new setback on Erling Haaland's injury.

Haaland is recovering from a foot injury and has been reportedly advised by Manchester City medical doctors to stay off training pending his full recovery.

So far, Haaland has missed eight consecutive matches for Manchester City following the injury with Newcastle set to be the ninth match he will miss as per Manchester Evening News.

In total, the Norwegian attacking sensation is set to miss 10 matches if he misses the Newcastle match. Last season, Haaland missed only three matches for City, hence it has been an underwhelming season for the player.

Manchester City had hoped to have him back to action as the team prepares for a seething Premier League title challenge with Liverpool. However, manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed a recent setback in Haaland's recovery run.

In a quote shared by Fabrizio Romano, Pep Guardiola confirmed Haaland is set to miss more matches than expected due to the injury.

The Spaniard added the prolific goalscorer is still recovering from the injury and will need time to return to action.

"Hopefully, at the end of this month, he will be ready. It is a bone. It needs time. We miss Haaland a lot."

"We need him to hopefully come back and play that the last five or four matches."

While City is sweating with Erling Haaland's Injury, they have received a recent injury boost as Kevin de Bruyne returns to action following full recovery.

De Bruyne has been on a lengthy injury layoff since the start of the season after he picked up a hamstring issue.

Manchester City will move two points closer to league leaders Liverpool if they defeat Newcastle United.
