Pep Guardiola has claimed that Manchester City will win a record-breaking fourth English Premier League title in a row.

The Spaniard and the Citizens have been incredibly dominant in English football since his move in the summer of 2016, breaking several records including the recent treble last season.

However, the defending champions have performed below expectations in recent weeks, suffering from poor form after picking up three consecutive draws at the hands of Chelsea, Liverpool, and Tottenham respectively.

Meanwhile, despite Manchester City's low form, Pep Guardiola, the former FC Barcelona head coach did not appear worried in his pre-match press conference ahead of his Premier League showdown with Aston Villa on Wednesday, December 6.

Speaking at a press conference, Guardiola said; "My feeling today is that we are going to win the Premier League. If we play the levels like we did against Liverpool and Tottenham, we are going to win it again".

"People don’t believe it already because of the three draws, but we’re going to do it again. Knowing that it is not easy".

He added; "No team has done it yet (win four consecutive Premier League titles), so that’s why the difficulty is there, it was last season, it was this season. But if you ask me today what you’re feeling, we’re going to do it again".

The reigning champions have drawn their previous three league matches, against Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham, and are six points behind leaders Arsenal ahead of Wednesday’s game at Aston Villa.

The Citizens have been infrequently leaky in defense, conceding eight goals over those three matches as they prepare for a difficult task against Unai Emery’s men, who have won their previous 13 home league matches in a row.

Guardiola confessed that last season’s treble champions needed to tighten up at the back but said they were still not losing many games.

The Man City boss said despite their struggles he was positive his men were on track to become the first team in English top-flight history to win four league titles in a row.

Notably, Man City will be without suspended midfielder Rodri for the journey to Villa Park.

John Stones will be fit to return and Guardiola acknowledged he could push the England international into midfield in place of the Spaniard.

He said; "We don’t deny how important he is but he’s not there, suspended, like Jack (Grealish), so we will find the best solution to compete against Aston Villa".

The former FC Barcelona manager feels his side are still capable of winning the Premier League title for a fourth straight season despite a host of defensive mistakes in their last few league games.

What's next for Manchester City?

The Etihad outfit are presently third in the league, six points behind leaders Arsenal and one point behind Liverpool.

In addition, after facing Unai Emery's side on Wednesday, December 6, they will look ahead to a trip to Kenilworth Road to lock horns with Luton Town on Sunday, December 10.
