Following their share of the spoils with Brighton and Hove Albion, Pep Guardiola joked that his Manchester City players “drank all the alcohol in Manchester” on Sunday night after the title triumph.

The Citizens were confirmed champions of the Premier League after Nottingham Forest defeated Arsenal by 1-0.

Pep Guardiola's side were afterwards given the title following the expiration of their 1-0 win against Chelsea at the Etihad.

City were not stretched to the limits by Chelsea as Guardiola rested many of his regular starters.

The 52-year-old Spaniard saluted his players for their ability to bounce back in quick fashion to put things in place in order to face Robert De Zerbi's side.

Manchester City and Brighton showcased their Arsenal as they sought to get the better over one another.

However, the encounter appeared to have deserved a 1-1 draw given the intense competitiveness by both sides during the game.

Pep Guardiola was questioned during the post match presser of the Brighton game how Manchester City celebrated the title triumph and he said: “At 10.30pm, I was in bed with my wife.

“I was exhausted. I watched Match of the Day and then I slept like a baby. But I know the players did what they have to do.

“When you win the Premier League you have to celebrate. They did it with the families, they enjoy a lot.

Guardiola added: “The next morning, it was just sauna time. And the day after yesterday we talked a little bit in the afternoon: “Guys you have to be ready, energy, for Brighton.” And they did it.

“I was a little bit worried about how much we drop from what we had done over the last four, five, six months… 40 hours ago we drank all the alcohol in Manchester.

“But the team was there and that’s why I am very pleased. Because I don’t want the team to drop before the FA Cup and Champions League finals.

“We showed why we are the best team in England. I’m very pleased with the way we still are as a team after being champion.”

The Spanish tactician was angry that Erling Haaland had a 97th-minute header disallowed by VAR due to a foul in the build up to the goal.

Haaland was adjudged to have pulled Brighton's Levi Colwill and as such the goal had to be ruled out.

Pep Guardiola speaking on the incident said: “If it’s disallowed, every action to Erling Haaland, by all central defenders, is a fault, Every action.

It’s a goal because he’s bigger, he’s stronger, he won the position and it was an incredible action from Cole Palmer on the cross.

The goal should be given. But that proves what we want… what we won on the pitch belongs to us, not anyone gives us anything.”

Manchester City have had a domineering campaign in almost all competitions this campaign and that could climax to a high altitude if they find a way to lift the treble.

But before then, they welcome Brentford on Sunday in their last game of the 2022/23 English Premier League season.

The Citizens then play city rivals Manchester United in the FA Cup final on the 3rd of June, 7 days prior to their clash with Inter Milan in the final of the UEFA Champions League.

Manchester City are chasing an unprecedented feat in the club's history with the hunt for a treble, a feat that has only been achieved once in English football.

In 1999, Sir Alex Ferguson led Manchester United to lift the treble as they won the Premier League, FA Cup and UEFA Champions League.

Players of City were seen in celebratory mood on Saturday following the conclusion of Arsenal's encounter with Nottingham Forest.

24 hours later, the party became more electric for Pep Guardiola's side and it looked like it elongated past Sunday night with players like record-breaker Erling Haaland and Captain IIkay Gundogan also in on the act.
