Pete Edochie reveals how he got into acting, says he was once offered N50,000 to make a film

Popular Nollywood legend Pete Edochie has revealed that he was once offered a sum of N50,000 to make a film. Pete Edochie is a popular renowned Nollywood actor who has featured in so many Nollywood movies in the past.He is married and has 5 sons one of which is Yul Edochie who is also an actor.

He recently shared one of his first paychecks for a movie role which was N50,000. He revealed this during a recent interview with Chude Jideonwo who is a popular media personality.

Pete said that for his first acting gig, he was offered N50,000. He says someone from Lagos had come to give him a check for N50,000 for him to make a film.

He says this check had come at the perfect time because he had just lost his broadcasting job. He says he lost his Job due to some religious differences and other internal issues. He didn't expanciate on the issues he faced at his previous job. He revealed that his salary as a director was N9,000 every month.

He shared that this N50,000 was big money at the time so with this money and encouragement from his wife, he then went into acting and abandoned his broadcasting job as a director.

He then began to pursue acting and movie roles. He shared that his wife was a source of encouragement. When he shared that he lost his job, she hugged him and bought him a bottle of beer. She then advised him saying ‘Pete, you’ve always wanted to be an actor; the time has come.’

He said before he had left his broadcasting job, he had actually played a role as Okonkwo which was the lead role in the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) version of Things Fall Apart which is is popular novel by Chinua Achebe

After that role, he had won an international award and the BBC interviewed him for his role. Ever since then he became a popular nollywood actor.
