A fully loaded NNPC petrol Tanker got stuck recently on the road in Lagos state. This tanker was fully loaded with petrol when it got stuck on the road. Due to this, there was a serious gridlock caused on the road.
Motorists coming from Oju Odo, towards Ikotun area of Lagos State were stuck in this gridlocked area caused by the tanker. This incident occured yesterday, Tuesday morning, September 26, 2023.

A statement was released by the Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) who is Adebayo Taofeek regarding this incident. This statement was released on Tuesday.

He revealed that some LASTMA operatives had put in the efforts to ensure that this incident doesn't cause a major fire accident. These operatives also ensured that the petrol contained inside the stuck tanker didn't get looted by some hoodlums in the area or residents of this area.

He disclosed that apart from the LASTMA officials, there were also men of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue team there to assist. They brought an empty tanker to the scene and these men assisted in loading the petrol inside the full tanker into an empty tanker.

A part of the statement read that “Traffic officer Demola Muibi ‘Bravo’ (Zone 7) who led the LASTMA response team disclosed that an NNPC branded tanker fully loaded with petroleum product got hooked and blocked the entire Road inward Ikotun from the Synagogue Church. We managed the situation in such a way to avoid miscreants and hoodlums from tampering with the fuel before the arrival of Policemen from Ikotun Police Division.”

He shared that the LASTMA officials got to the scene by 6am and then called the other rescue officials and teams to the scene. They also called the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Services to ensure there wasn't a fire accident. They also directed the road users to another route which was through Ijegun Road or Ikotun/Ejigbo/Japanese Road.
